Gas
production remained shut down from one of the North
Sea's largest unmanned installations following a major
blaze on the platform.
An oil
giant operating the installation, has revealed that it
could be several days before it is declared safe enough
for specialists to board the platform to assess the
exact extent of the fire damage.
The
on-board automatic deluge system extinguished the blaze
two hours after the fire erupted on the platform.
A
spokesman said the extent of the damage could not be
fully assessed until teams can get on the platform. But
he revealed: "Following an initial assessment, there was
confirmation that there is no evidence of deck beam,
structural or piping deformation and the vast majority
of the facility is in its original condition."

added: "There is certainly damage to the north and
