Refinery
fire extinguished
Russia -- Production of refined products was unaffected
after a fire broke out at the Omsk refinery controlled
by Russian oil firm Gazprom Neft, the local emergency
service and the company both said on Monday.
"The fire has broken out at one of the plant's units at
10 am local time (0300 GMT). The fire was rated 4 out of
a possible 5 on our scale, but has already been
extinguished," a spokesman at the local emergency
ministry told Reuters.
Gazprom Neft, the oil arm of gas export monopoly Gazprom,
said the fire did not disrupt production at the plant.
"Output is unaffected, nobody is injured. One of the
plant's units is temporarily halted," said a Gazprom
Neft spokeswoman.
