When it comes to safety, Detector Electronics Corporation (Det-Tronics) has decades of practical experience in flame and gas detection plus fire alarm and gas detection systems. Our legacy is one of protecting such high hazardous applications as offshore oil platforms, the B-2 bomber, thousands of miles of gas pipelines, and token booths in New York City's subway system. Our history and experience have instilled a high level of "safety consciousness" in our company and personnel.

Headquarters and Personnel

Det-Tronics is a division of United Technology Corporation with headquarters in Minneapolis, MN, USA. At this 80,000 sq. ft. facility, we manufacture UV and IR sensors for flame detectors, catalytic gas sensors used in combustible gas detectors, and electronic PC board and detector/controller assemblies. In addition, we have personnel managing operations both in England and Singapore. We also maintain a 4,000 sq. ft. off-site fire and gas test facility which is one of the best and largest in the world. Det-Tronics has over 280 dedicated employees as well as 76 worldwide representative sales offices and 18 worldwide sales offices.

Complete Product Line

Det-Tronics is unique in the manufacturing of both flame and gas sensors in-house, thereby controlling specifications to exacting requirements. Our optical flame detectors incorporate the latest technologies in UV, IR, UV/IR, Dual IR, Multispectrum IR (MIR) and fiber optics. In our gas detection line, we employ technologies for catalytic, electrochemical, thin-film semiconductor and IR absorption. Our flame and gas systems range from conventional to state-of-the-art, highly fault tolerant and configurable detection and releasing systems. By offering the widest range of fire and gas detection & alarm products, Det-Tronics ensures the right technology for every application.

World-Class Product Testing Facility

Det-Tronics maintains one of the most sophisticated fire and gas testing facilities in the world, which enables us to fully test and evaluate each and every product BEFORE shipment to the customer. Our continued dedication to providing the highest level of safety possible results in superior products that have been tested to ensure that they perform the intended function over a wide range of abnormal operating conditions.

At our testing facilities, our computerized data access systems log dozens of events at hundreds of times per second to gather the data needed to develop the best and safest detector possible. Meanwhile, as a normal course of developing a flame detector, countless tests encompassing a full range of fuel types, fire sizes, and false alarm sources are performed. Our combustible gas detectors undergo similar testing against possible triggering sources, including attempts at tricking the product into false alarms.

As a final effort at eliminating failures, we perform thorough inspections and run-ins. These recorded measures from design to shipment further ensure reliability.

Global Approvals

Det-Tronics submits products to recognized third-party testing agencies around the world for verification of performance and quality. We were one of the world's first detection manufacturers to earn and retain the coveted quality approval award, the European ISO 9001. We are also the recipient of hundreds of national approvals, each certifying that our product has withstood each individual agency's most rigorous performance tests. In addition, we are a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
