Fire Safety in Building Design and Operation - A
Short Course
3rd - 7th April
2010 :
Department of Architectural Engineering, King
Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM),
Saudi Arabia
Many of the
topics covered by JOIFF relate specifically
to open plant process environments. This
may be due to the multifarious geometries
and inherent hazards present and the many
challenges for our fire engineers and
fire-fighters which remain. However, every
facility has a 'built environment' and
within these buildings are housed our most
precious asset - our people. Therefore one
of the greatest risks which we have as a
fire professional is life risk and the
highest population of life risk is found
within buildings. Just a thought for 2010
- take a look at the built environment
around you and for which you have
responsibility and ensure you place the same
diligence in ensuring these are safe places
of work as you do with open plant process
environments.
