Brazil – Worker Dies On Petrobras Platform
Worker dies in fall at Petrobras platform
An oil worker died on Sunday while performing services for Petrobras on board the PCH-2 fixed platform at the Cherne field in the Campos basin.
Vitor Geraldo Brito, 29, fell from a height of 20 metres and did not survive the impact.
He worked for private contractor RIP Servicos Industriais.
According to oil workers’ union Sindipetro-NF, a commission will be created to investigate the circumstances that led to his fall.
“Petrobras reiterates its commitment to the safety of its operations and will investigate the causes of the accident, strengthening preventive measures,” the operator said in a statement.
The PCH-2 platform entered operations in 1984 and serves the Cherne, Congro and Malhado fields.
It is currently producing about 7200 barrels per day of oil.
