Thailand – Plant Blast Kills Worker, Injures 12

Thailand blastA worker was killed and 12 others injured in an explosion at a factory in Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district Monday morning.

The explosion also sparked a fire at the KML Technology Co factory which manufactures electronic parts and lightning conductors.

Residents in Kasa housing village in tambon Ban Krang of Muang district said they heard a loud explosion at the factory in nearby Bang Yai district about 9.05am.

They said they saw smoke billowing over the building. After the fire was put out, police found the partially burned body of Wannapa Srisuk, 30, a company employee in the production department. Twelve other people at the factory were injured and taken to Kasemrat Bang Yai Hospital.

Preecha Panasuwannarat, the factory manager, said the blast occurred in an area where copper powder was being mixed as part of the lightning conductor production process.
