Brazil – Fire Breaks out Onboard Offshore Supply Vessel
A fire has broken out onboard an offshore platform supply vessel (PSV), the Skandi Stolmen, off the Brazilian coast.
According to a press release by operators DOF, the fire broke out Wednesday, whilst the vessel was offshore, but was successfully extinguished by crew members.
The vessel’s operators went further saying the incident caused no harm to the environment.
DOF have confirmed that all 16 crew members were transferred to other vessels that arrived on the scene, and have since disembarked from the vessel in Brazil’s offshore petroleum hub port of Macaé. All 16 crew are now being given a full medical examination.
DOF went further saying, the appropriate authorities have been informed and investigations into the cause of the incident are under way.
