Offshore Platform Gas Leak Sees Total Charged
Total have been charged by UK courts over a offshore gas leak, onboard the North Sea Elgin platform, back in 2012.
The French based oil and gas producer was charged after, an investigation into the incident found, the company in breach of UK offshore installations regulations.
Offshore Gas Leak
The offshore gas leak originated from one of the Elgin platform’s wells, 150 miles (241km) offshore Aberdeen. The platform was evacuated, before the gas leak was eventually brought under control by drill crew pumping heavy drilling fluid into the well.
Court Case
Total will now have to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, early next week.
