Two Workers Killed In Incident At US Power Plant
A FirstEnergy spokeswoman said two workers were killed and four others injured at the utility’s Bruce Mansfield coal-fired power plant in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.
Local media reported her as saying the workers were performing maintenance in an underground enclosure carrying out repairs on a pipe when it ruptured and they were overcome by toxic gas.
The enclosure then filled up with sludge and at least two of the men had to be pulled out of the sludge. The two who died were contract workers at the plant. The four injured workers were flown to Pittsburgh-area hospitals.
