WILLEMSTAD – Last night, just before midnight, an explosion occurred at cat cracker on the oil refinery premises; this blast, felt up to several kilometers, was followed by a trail of fire coming down. Luckily no one was injured.
The explosion caused quite a panic for those living around the refinery. But according to sources close to the refinery, there is nothing to be worried about. The situation is under control.
Onsite and Local Fire Departments have contained the fire using both fixed Fire Systems and Trucks using a FireFighting Foam
This morning the site will be inspected and the damage assessed. Then the oil refinery will be able to provide more information.
