Russia – Seven Injured In Explosion At Refinery In Siberia
According to RIA Novosti, an explosion at the Surgutneftegas refining facility in Russia’s Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region on July 13 injured at least seven employees. Two of the injured were taken to hospital for trauma care, a local health official told the news agency.
The incident was caused by a detonation inside a pipe cleaning machine, the local Investigative Committee said in a press release.
Surgutneftegas is one of the largest private vertically integrated oil companies in Russia and is involved in prospecting, exploration and production of hydrocarbons in three Russian oil and gas provinces — Western Siberia, Eastern Siberia and Timan-Pechora.
The company’s refinery in Khanty-Mansi Okrug is the only one in Siberia and is one of the largest in Russia.
