India – 4 Killed, 9 Injured In Blast Chemicals Plant

PTI reported that at least four workers were killed and nine others injured on January 21 in a blast at the GSP Crop Science chemical plant in Nandesari, an industrial suburb of Vadodara in Gujarat. The blast led to a huge fire at the premises, according to local police.  Two of the injured were reported to be in a serious condition.

The Indian Express said three workers suffocated to death on the spot, and 16 workers were rescued by a fire brigade team, four of whom were unconscious and the rest with varying levels of injuries.

The reason for the blast was not immediately known, and Vadodara district collector P Bharathi said she had ordered an inquiry into the causes of the explosion.

On the same day, a massive fire at a fireworks factory on the northern outskirts of the Indian capital, New Delhi, killed at least 17 workers, a fire official said.
